Therapeutic Supports

Wind Rose Academy believes that growth and learning require a team approach that consists of the student, their family, educators, and outside therapists.

Applied Behavioral Analysts

In many schools for students with autism, teachers are tasked with both addressing behavioral concerns and teaching. This divides a teacher’s attention and creates a less effective academic atmosphere. Wind Rose works directly with an ABA service provider in order to equip teachers to strategically address each student’s social and behavioral needs with a team of professionals. Some students may require a full-time ABA shadow during their classes while others may simply benefit from continued consultation. This integrative approach allows educators to focus on educating.

Speech Therapists

Many students with autism and developmental challenges benefit from regular and ongoing speech therapy. Having a speech therapist onsite to provide this service as well as consulting with outside speech therapists as needed helps to ensure that all who work with that student maintain a consistent and complimentary approach to language development.

Occupational Therapists

Sensory and motor difficulties are common for students with autism and other developmental challenges. They can directly impact how a student functions in a classroom. Sensory difficulties can impact focus and attention, while motor difficulties impact handwriting and the ability to sit for longer periods of time. Working with occupational therapists onsite as needed and being able to schedule students for direct occupational therapy services in our amazing gym facility can help a student have a more successful academic experience.

Educational Therapists

Educational therapy uses an individualized, research based, intervention methodology to support academic development. Students diagnosed with autism and developmental disabilities often present with complex cognitive profiles that require strategic interventions and supports in order to help them achieve success. Educational therapy, whether that is via direct intervention or case management and consultation with a student’s teachers and therapy team, may overall improve academic outcomes for a student struggling to gain academic skills or grasp concepts.
